Molle Costero is a wool carpet conceived as a translated drawing: a textile interpretation by master artist-weaver Inocencio Fernández, based on original drawings by Miguel Andrade Valdez, where art, craft, and cultural continuity converge and the weaver’s hand becomes an active author. Inspired by the deep green tonality that runs through Peruvian decorative arts from colonial times to contemporary practices, the piece reflects on color as a carrier of memory, drawing from the observation of vegetal patterns and references to Cusco ceramics, Pucará pottery, and the work of artists such as Grimanesa Neuhaus and Tater Vera.
Handwoven using traditional techniques in 100% sheep wool, Molle Costero presents subtle variations that affirm its handmade nature, functioning as a collectible artwork designed to inhabit curated interiors as both a grounding presence and a cultural statement.
